LocationA small vineyard with favourable N or NE aspects on the west bank of the River Tamar itself, the 3ha Rosevears Vineyard, 20km north of Launceston is home of the Pirie winemaking and cellar door. The site has exquisite views of the Tamar valley. ClimateAlthough the climate has more maritime influence than Relbia and White Hills, the strongest influence is from the River Tamar, a significant moving body of water up to 1km at it’s widest. With vineyard altitude of approximately 80m above sea level, the steep valley sides trap warmth and sunlight reflected off the surface of the river, and the high ridges on the west protect the vineyards from cool west winds.
