So next time someone talks about Tasmanian wine as a recent phenomenom, ask them where else in the world outside Champagne has a 180 year history as a sparkling wine region.

Interestingly, other than the classic Champagne varieties, the vineyard grew Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. There is nothing new under the sun it seems.
